Although I like doing repairs, and sometimes repair things for other people,I don’t run a repair business. So if you have something to repair, firstly think if you or someone you know, or a local tradesperson might do it.
You can get in touch and let me know the details and if I have some time available and think it might be interesting for a video (or I’m running out of Make or Repair budget) then I might help out.
Don’t take it personally if I say no. I am retired and not looking to create a big business – just enough to keep make or repair going (yes production of Youtube videos does come with significant investment and some overheads)
I have fixed quite a few things for other people. TV motorised arms, washing machine motor boards, IBoost solar diverters, game concoles and the occasional television to mention a few. But it can be difficult to fit in, and typically peope don’t really want to pay fairly for my time.

So, if you want me to take a look then first email me. Tell me what it is, what is wrong with it, how it should work and how it got broken. I’ll either ask you to send it to me and take an initial look. Be aware you need to pay return postage!
Costs
On receipt of your item I’ll photograph it in the state it arrives then take a brief look to see what I think will be involved.
If it is not worth pursuing then I’ll ask what you want to do which usually boils down to:
- Returning it to you (if you pay postage!)
- Scrapping it if you wish
If I do think it is worth repair then I’ll let you know what needs doing and give you an idea of the cost and timeframe. Assuming you approve then I’ll do the repair and charge you for the parts used and for time.
You should be aware all repairs are recorded on video, and might be used in Make or Repair Youtube videos.
If the repair involves expensive parts then I might ask for part payment up front.
There is the thorny matter of people not paying. In that event I will hang onto the item for 3 months while i politely remind you. After which I will dispose of it (repaired or not) to recoup my costs.
